Work Shadowing With Sunbelt Rentals

Posted on: 19/12/2022

14 of our Year 12 Business students attended a work shadow event with Sunbelt Rentals at their Staines offices and depot. Sunbelt Rentals is the UK's largest rental equipment provider.

Students were welcomed, introduced to staff, and had an introduction to the company.

They then had the opportunity to visit various workstations to find out more about what Sunbelt Rentals do. Students find out they were involved in so many sectors including film & TV, they rent production equipment and provide everything needed on-set, on-location, from prep through to wrap. Custom-built studios, location support and powered access equipment through to cameras, lenses, lighting, grip and power.

They also offer training; students had the opportunity to see their confined space-training unit in use. Many took the opportunity to look inside.

Back to the meeting room for a quiz on what the students had learnt, this certainly proved how well they listened.

We finished our day with pizza lunch with all the staff that students had met during the day.

Students showed a real interest, asked many questions, and were impressed of how well the staff they met knew their industry inside out and the equipment they were handling.

Staff members from Sunbelt Rentals will visit students in March for additional employee workshops including CV writing and will have an opportunity to apply for work experience with them in the summer.

Well done to all the students. It was a real pleasure to see them all make the most out of this opportunity.

“A very interesting day, finding out about the structure of a company and what they do, the varied roles within and the skills and knowledge that all the people we met and how important they are to the success of a company.”
