Oracy LaunchPosted on: 08/09/2021
Capital’s teaching staff began our year with an oracy conference to launch our two-year focus on developing our students’ speaking and listening skills in partnership with Voice 21. Our keynote speaker, Dr Pete Dudely of Oracy Cambridge Group, began by taking us through the research on the importance of oracy and the impact that an oracy-rich curriculum can have on students’ attainment. Paul Butler, of New College Leicester, then talked us through how he had embedded good practice in oracy at his school. Our thoroughly inspiring day closed with our first 2021-22 Teaching and Learning Community meetings, during which we worked in small groups to explore the practicalities of using oracy in the Capital Classroom.
