Capital City Academy Poetry Slam
Posted on: 27/11/2019On Wednesday 27th November, Capital hosted its first poetry slam in the QSB Theatre. The slam was hosted by spoken-word poet Kenny Baraka, who has also been leading workshops with selected year 9 students this term. The students shared some fabulous poetry and offered each other positive support. Extra congratulations must go to Ngeeb whose poem ‘I Am Sick’ was pronounced the winner!
All of the poems that were performed will go on to be entered in Eastside Educational Trust’s nationwide poetry competition, I Know I Wish I Will. They have the chance to be selected to perform at a 24-hour poetry slam at the Criterion Theatre in March. Well done and good luck to all of the students who participated!
