Coast to Coast Charity Cycle Ride for the âFlutterby FundâPosted on: 03/06/2019
Over the half term holiday, Mr Caldwell and two of his old school friends took part in a 140 mile bike ride from one side of England to the other. The aim of the ride was to raise funds for the Flutterby Fund, a charity that helps special needs children from low-income families. The target was to raise £1000 and this has been well exceeded with nearly £3000 raised so far!
The ride consisted of 2 days riding from Whitehaven to Sunderland in the north of England following the C2C course that takes in magnificent (and very hilly) scenery of the Lake District, Pennines and Northumberland.
Mr Caldwell explained, “We are really proud to have raised so much money for a great cause and would like to thank all of the staff at Capital for their sponsorship. The ride was quite challenging especially the last part of day 1 and the beginning of day 2 when we rode through rain for the majority of the day over some very big hills. The funniest moment came when we had completed 138 miles and with 2 miles from the finish, my friend Keiron got a puncture – it wasn’t very funny at the time!”
