Work Experience Placement - Karakusevic Carson Architects (KCA)Posted on: 29/04/2019
During the Easter break, four of our Capital 6 students attended a placement with The Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust who have been working in partnership with Karakusevic Carson Architects (KCA). The Trust has been commissioned by KCA to reach out to local young people living or studying in the Borough of Brent who are interested in Architecture and/or Design.
At Karakusevic Carson Architects students placement experience was based around a mini brief situated in Brent; this allowed students to experience all stages of a project from site visits to design reviews during the week long programme. Students were paired with mentors who helped support them through the tasks. They had the opportunity to learn technical drawing techniques and had the chance to develop their design through model making.
This was a fantastic opportunity for students, which gave them a taste of what it is like to work on a live design brief and is a fantastic experience for their CV.
What our students said:
“My experience at the Carson Architecture Office was amazing. I really felt like I was part of the team.” - Fabina
“For the whole 5 days we were treated like real architects and were able to explore and learn new techniques. I am really proud of what I created throughout the week and I wish to go back.” - Diana
Feedback from Karakusevic Carson Architects:
"Students from Capital embraced the task with enthusiasm and all behaved in a professional manner, making them a joy to have in the office."
