GCSE and SATs Results

Students at Capital City Academy achieved the school’s best ever results at GCSE and Key Stage Three SATs in 2006.

Top performers were:

Yin Sing Ng who achieved 3 A*, 6A, 1B, 1C – she is an all-round student who won Student of the Year for her contribution to school life.

Mohamad Rizvi who achieved 2A*, 4A, 3B, 1C – he came to England at the start of Year 7 and has made excellent progress throughout his schooling here.

Nur Amin Haji who achieved 1A*, 2A, 6B, 1C, 1D, 1E – he has overcome a serious visual impairment to put in and take a great deal from his education.

Another outstanding student was:

Sofja Bogrjantseva who achieved 1A*, 2B, 3C, 2D – she came to England from Russia and joined our school at the start of Year 11 with only schoolgirl knowledge of English.

A number of Y10 students took GCSE exams early. Their results were as follows:

GCSE (Y10)

English: 25 students gained A*-C grades (83% of those entered)

Maths:   23 students gained A*-C grades (96% of those entered)

“We expected these good results,” commented Principal Philip O’Hear. “We set challenging targets for our students and they have met these, making outstanding progress between Key stage Three and Four. The results reflect extremely hard work and good teaching and learning by staff and students – and excellent support from parents.”

“The early-entry results in English and Maths in Y10 and in ICT in Y9 are very pleasing. They show we are accelerating the progress of able students – a key part of our overall approach.”

 “At Key Stage Three, the first students to join the Academy in Year 7 have met or exceeded all their targets,” said a delighted Philip O’Hear. “Even more pleasing is the number of higher grades – clear evidence that our more able students can achieve as well as any others in the country. Coming on top of our excellent A-level results, the GCSE and SATs results demonstrate that we are a school that can add value at all levels.”
