What the students think of Capital
"There is a lot to like about Capital City Academy; the building itself, the state of the art facilities, the teaching and so on. But some simply love the atmosphere.
It is obvious that Capital City Academy is very popular with the community. In 2005 alone 586 applications for Year 7 were received.
Capital is not only there for the students, it is there to serve the community. Countless clubs and classes are at hand to enrich and extend students learning. English classes for adults and parents are taught for speakers of other languages. Visits from specialists and professionals are common to inspire students. Facilities are widely available such as the sports grounds where teams from Brent play their matches.
The reason why Capital City is so successful today is because everyone works together. The parents are supportive and attend meetings to forward the learning of the students. The students, the staff and the parents have had a significant part in taking the school to where it is today. There is a student council that listens to whatever problems or issues the students may have. Everyone's ‘voice' is taken into account and dealt with as soon as possible.
Interaction between staff and students is the key to a successful school and is not an unusual sight to see Mr O'Hear walking around the school speaking to students."
Amina, Year 10
"When I first started Capital everybody made me feel welcome and comfortable. All the teachers were kind, helpful and catered for our every need. We had many opportunities to go on lots of exciting trips. The Year 7 academic levels have improved since starting the school. The PE facilities are amazing and make it possible for children of any age to improve physically."
Monet, Year 10
"When I started at Capital, I felt welcomed and involved. The sports facilities are great for young people to exceed their expectations in sports. CCA is not just soaring in physical education, it is also doing well in the academic subjects"
Rian, Year 10
"I have enjoyed CCA this year, new friends, new subjects, new teachers can all seem too much to cope with, but together we make a great team when we work together and my teachers have helped me make good progress and I will go up into Capital group next year. My class even won an award for 100% attendance."
Surajh, Year 8
"It has been hard work, but with all the support we get I have ended the year doing really well, I even won a leadership award and have been selected to be the school football team captain for next year."
Safiullah, Year 8
