Learning For Life

learning4life2.jpg'Learning For Life' is an innovative new curriculum your child will be following in Year 7 . All students follow a programme of study that is new and challenging. The aim of Learning For Life is to develop student's competence as learners in the 21st century. It is a competence led curriculum. This means that it is about how we learn as well as what we learn. The competences are the skills that students will need in order to become life-long learners.

The competencies are:

Challenge

Learning

Information

People

World

For 12 periods each week your child will have Learning For Life. These are the 6 modules which will each last half a term:

Roots and Branches

 The Magic Garden

 Citius Altius Fortius

 Footprints

 Capital to Capital

 Flagship Venture

In Learning For Life we plan activities that relate to Art, Music, Design and Technology, History, Geography, Religious Studies and PHSE. We will also focus on developing skills in literacy and numeracy.

At the end of each Learning For Life unit (half term) we will ask students to reflect on their progress towards these competences and their teacher will also make a comment on their progress.

Learning For Life is an exciting and challenging way to begin secondary education. It is not just for Year 7, but for Life.
