It is a particularly exciting time to be learning science at Capital City Academy.  The recent changes to the science curriculum mean that there is now an intense focus on engaging students in the important and interesting issues facing society that can only be solved through science.  The Science Department at the Academy aims to both stimulate students' natural interest in the scientific process, whilst providing knowledge and expertise to allow all students to achieve academic success.

This website is intended as a source of information for students and parents.  It contains information on the courses provided in terms of the options available, topics covered within these options, information on assessment, homework and clubs and classes, and details on events going on with the Department.  Please use the tabs on the right-hand side to navigate to the appropriate area of the website.

Clubs and Classes

The department runs Clubs and Classes for all year groups, and there are great and proven benefits for students who attend these classes.  They range from Science Club for younger students, to A Level revision classes.  Please consult the Academy's Clubs and Classes programme, you can do this by clicking here doc cc_timetable_09-10 (92.00 Kb)

Homework

Students are set science homework once a week.  Homework is an essential part of learning science - it encourages independent learning within students (essential for a successful scientist) and allows them to consolidate their learning in the classroom, as well as developing their own areas of interest.  For information on when homework is set for each class, please check the Homework Timetable page on the relevant Year group section of the website.
