 Tate Modern Trip

On Tuesday 1st December a group of Yr12 & 13 AS & A2 Art students went on a contextual studies trip to the Tate Modern as part of their coursework requirements.

Student feedback from the trip was extremely positive: ‘The visit to the Tate Modern was extremely valuable for me personally as I was able to appreciate the differences between seeing work in a gallery and viewing it from a reproduction in a book. The colours are much stronger when you see the real work and you can really appreciate the textures and use of materials. I will definately take a lot of new ideas back into my own work form this trip, I don't think I will feel I need to hold back as much and worry about making mistakes. I am now really looking forward to expressing my new ideas and further exploring my use of materials.'

Sixth Form Writing Workshop

Sixth Form English A-level students took part in a writing workshop with ex-Eastenders star, Tom Watts and former Tottenham Hotspur player, Garth Crooks. The workshop consisted of a question and answer session where the students were introduced to the fundamentals of writing and the ability to believe. All of the students involved reacted positively to the knowledge both were sharing and one student even questioned whether it was possible to write a novel without having good English. The reaction received from Mr Watts was priceless as he explained that if one has a passion then they are able to achieve anything.

From my prospective, the writers workshop was extremely beneficial for me as i have now realised my capability in writing books, poems, plays etc. Also, Garth announcing that there would be an opportunity to write to a South Africa student during the World Cup was beneficial as it can contribute towards my personal development.
