School Trips / Visits

year_10_swanage_trip_2008.pngA wide range of trips and visits are organised at Capital throughout the academic year. These trips can be part of the subject curriculum, or extra-curricular activities that are attended by students as an experience. Students are keen to take advantage of the opportunities offered and gain a tremendous amount from these out of school activities.

Early in Year 7 there is a two night camp to Tolmers, the purpose of the camp is to help the students get to know each other and the staff in a more informal environment. The emphasis of the camp is team building and bonding with many activities such as raft building and abseiling. There is also a trip to Spain in the summer which offers a students with the opportunity to experience another country's culture and learn more about languages. Year 7 students have also enjoyed a number of visits throughout the year. These include, visiting Willesden library as part of the literacy programme, a reward trip to see a theatre performance of "WICKED" and an opportunity to make carnival costumes with guidance from local experts.

Year 8 have also benefitted from trips such as Tolmers Camp, the Globe Theatre and Blacklands farm adventure camp.

v_and_a_museum.jpgYear 9 students enjoyed a week of Watersports activites in the South of France, despite the inclement weather they learnt to sail various size boats, bodyboard and kayak. There was even opportunities for them to take part in a high ropes course and abseiling. It is hoped that the trip will run again this summer.

The Year 10 and 12 Art students enjoyed a week long trip to Barcelona, they had the opportunity to visit the Dali and Picasso museums as well as soaking in the Gaudi architecture of Barcelona by visiting Park Guell and La Sagrida Familia. The trip is scheduled to run again in October this Year.

All years have regular trips to art galleries and museums, as well as the theatre and trips organised by individual subject departments.
