 | The CurriculumAll subjects are important with the Academy teaching the full curriculum. Special emphasis is given to the Sport, the Arts, ICT, Citizenship and Vocational tudies.
Students are encouraged to take examinations in their own language and the academy has links with speakers of all community languages.
Year 7 We work closely with Year 6 teachers so that progress is continuous. The school year starts with an induction programme including a residential experience to ensure that students feel happy in themselves and with others enabling them to work as a team. A year system ensures that all students enjoy appropriate care and support. All students have personal targets with progress checked by a learning advisor.
At Key Stage 3 (KS3) the emphasis is on breadth and balance. Students study the National Curriculum core subjects of English, Science, Mathematics, Physical Education, ICT and Religious Education; alongside the Arts, Humanities and Languages. Higher achieving students are given a fast track programme to ensure they are fully stretched.
Key Stage 4 (KS4) offers students the chance to specialise, whilst continuing to cover a core range of National Curriculum subjects which will include PE as an accredited subject. A wide range of vocational courses are offered.
