ICT

Key Stage 3 - Year 7

Year 7 is an exciting and challenging year which builds carefully on the knowledge and skills pupils have gained in year 6.

Sample work from Year 7 Student: Timothy Kamiza

Key Dates

June – End of Year Assessment

Autumn

The first 6 weeks are spent building on skills and understanding gained in Yr 6. Students create Presentations about endangered animals, incorporating various ICT skills and building understanding of audience.

We then move on to using data and information sources, which looks at how information is gathered and used for specific purposes.

Spring

This term, students work on how to use Desktop Publishing Software to create a leaflet for Year 6 students about KS3 subjects. They will look at how they should use text, images and frames to create documents that are fit for purpose.

Students will then look at how to use spreadsheets to model simple situations. They will learn how to construct and explore spreadsheets, create and manipulate graphs and use formulae.

Summer

Students in the first 6 weeks learn about how to handle different types of data. They will consider how to collect data, check accuracy and evaluate results.

Students will then move onto Control and Monitoring using ICT which looks at how technology is used to control everyday things and learn how to create flowcharts to control programs.
