EnglishKey Stage 5 - Year 13A2 English / LiteratureA2 English Literature builds on skills, knowledge and understanding previously gained at AS, with more emphasis placed upon personal involvement as students are given more choice in selecting their exam materials,. Discursive skills are developed alongside communication and IT key skills in both oral participation within class and within structured comparative essays. At the end of the course students would be able to write confidently, having developed previous AS skills with a greater understanding of a wider variety of texts. Autumn - Unit 4 | Text Transformation A further coursework module, which requires candidates to choose a literary work of any genre and transform it into a different genre for any purpose. This enables candidates to meet one of the A Level Requirements | Spring - Unit 5 | Life and Literature The study of a Shakespeare play here allows candidates to meet the A level literary genre requirements (pre 1770 texts). Emphasis is on spoken language in the Shakespeare play and in a range of unseen texts. | Summer - Unit 6 | Critical approaches The final test is synoptic and the candidates’ perception of the connection between texts and the validity of various approaches, both literary and linguistic. The assessment unit uses pre release material. | | | | Everything will be covered over three terms although the order of teaching may be subject to change. |
