Autumn

In the first half of the term students study poems from other cultures in preparation for Paper 2 of their GCSE English. They also undertake a speaking and listening assessment in the form of a discussion. During after school classes, the students will redraft and complete their coursework.

In the second half, students prepare for their mock examination. This consists of media analysis, non-fiction writing, pre-post twentieth century poetry and poems from different cultures. They then sit their mock examination in December.  After this, students continue with pre/post twentieth century poetry and examination essay practice. They also undertake one of their speaking and listening assessments.

Spring

In the first half of the term, students will study the prose from the anthology. They will be examined on these texts in their GCSE English Literature. They also undertake one of their speaking and listening assessments.

In the second half, students start their revision and exam practice.

Summer

Students continue with revision and exam preparation.
