GCSE Textile Project Guide Key Stage 3
Students in Key stage 3 are
introduced to a variety of decorative techniques that are used to enhance fabrics. They also learn about fashion and art history by researching past and present artists and fashion icons.
Year 9 - Students design and make a cushion using a variety of printing techniques
Year 10
nStudents complete 3 Design & Make projects in year 10.
n1 Design based – Students design and make a cushion using a variety of printing techniques 
n2 Skills Based – Students design and make a Kimono
n pattern cutting, garment construction,
n Using different types of fabrics
n3 Making a garment to fit - Students design and make an item of clothing in their own size.
GCSE Technology is divided into two components

1 Coursework (Design Folder an Practical Product)
n2 Terminal Examination ( written paper testing your knowledge of the design process and industrial practices).
nYour design folder is a means of recording the process by which you research, develop, refine and plan your whole project.
nA design folder in A3 size of 20 sides should be sufficient to show your design & Technology knowledge and understanding.
