Design & Technology

The Academy has a large and vibrant design  technology  department consisting of 6 rooms dedicated to the  key disciplines of Food Technology, Graphics, Textiles and Resistant Materials.

At Key Stage 3 Design and Technology is a compulsory part of the lower school curriculum and is run on a carousel system with each child rotating through the department ‘s 4 subject areas.

Each child is empowered through  a range of focused practical tasks and a major design and make assignment. Developing their skills and preparing them to a level of competency required for GCSE at Key Stage 4.

Courses are available in:

GCSE Food Technology, GCSE Resistant Materials, GCSE Graphic Products, GCSE Textiles Technology and we are currently looking to offer a further GCSE in Product Design.
