Key Stage 4 - Year 11Unit 4 Term 1 Conflict in the EnvironmentAbout the unit Students develop their work completed in year 10 and start to investigate the similarities between the two themes. Students produce work based on personal experiences using appropriate materials. Students also start to prepare their portfolio and identify strengths and weaknesses working on an action plan to make improvements. Unit 5 Term 2 Externally Set AssignmentAbout the unit Students will receive the externally set ‘Theme’ during term 2. The students have eight schools weeks preparatory time to develop, investigate and produce ideas on the theme. At the end of the preparatory period students sit a ten hour exam in which the students produce personal outcomes developed from their prep work. Unit 6 Term 3 CourseworkAbout the unit During the final term students will develop their own art work, building on their previous interests or specialism’s. Students will also ensure that all ‘Assessment Objectives’ have been covered. ExpectationsAt the end of the course Pupils will: explore and assess a range of ideas related to style; select and present relevant visual and other information and use this to develop their ideas, taking account of purpose and audience; manipulate materials and processes and analyse outcomes; interpret visual and tactile qualities to communicate ideas and meanings in art work; analyse different styles; comment on how ideas are conveyed and how they have been influenced by work from different cultures and traditions; explain how their own work has been influenced by others.
