Art

Key Stage 3 - Year 7

Year 7    Term 1 Objects and viewpoint

About the unit

This is an introduction to Art and design and pupils will be asked ‘What is Art?’ They will also be introduced to working in sketchbooks and a variety of recording techniques and pupils will start to develop their understanding of the formal elements.  In this unit, pupils explore familiar objects from different viewpoints as the starting point for their work. They develop their ideas by selecting and abstracting qualities of objects to use as the basis for art works. They learn about the ideas and approaches and influences of other artists, times and cultures to then make connections within their own work.
