Year 7 Students Receive Free Book!
Posted on: 07/10/2022Did you know that almost one in five children in England (18%) does not have access to books at home? This despite the fact that research carried out by the National Literacy Trust shows that low literacy levels can hold you back at school, lock you out of the job market, affect your physical and mental health and even reduce your life expectancy.
Thanks to Bookbuzz, a reading programme from BookTrust that aims to help schools inspire a love of reading in 11 to 13-year-olds, we have just sent all of our Year 7 students at Capital home with a free book! The 17 books on offer are all carefully selected by a panel of experts to ensure quality and suitability; we then invite our students to choose the books they would like and place their order at a subsidised price. 2023’s inspiring list of books is here.
If your child is in Year 7, please do ask them what they’re reading and encourage them to swap their Bookbuzz book with a peer once they’ve finished reading it. Please also encourage them to participate in our Bookbuzz challenge, and to explore the activities in the Bookbuzz student zone.
