Art Department Student of the Month
Posted on: 22/10/2021The Art department is pleased to announce that Y12 Art student Louise T is the new winner of the Student of the Month award. This award recognises deserving students and aims to encourage their continued commitment to art practice.
Louise’s mixed-media textile work captures the theme of emotions to show how different genders’ experience various emotions with dramatic lighting and well-composed imagery. Louise's ability to capture subtle emotions in her artwork is touching. Her combination of artist vision and perceptiveness makes the work stand out and allows the viewer to make an emotional connection and sympathise with her pieces.
The artwork is the result of deliberate compositional choices, sophisticated use of her DSLR camera, drawing, painting and textile skills, as well as her use of staging. Her artwork is intriguing and haunting: art pieces to remember. Emotion, or a feeling, is what can bring a snapshot out of obscurity and make it shine. Louise has natural creative ability and has created a body of work which embodies strong artist influences.
Louise is very conscientious and exceptionally mature in her work ethic: she is a positive, hardworking student, who always strives to succeed. She is very passionate and seeks to explore different techniques and develop her art skills at every opportunity in a very open- minded way. We are very proud to award her this accolade. Congratulations Louise!
