Mohammed (Year 12) has won the Under 18s prize in a National Poetry Competition. The competition was part of Freedom from Torture’s literary festival which had the theme of ‘Resilience’. There were hundreds of entries and amongst the judges were writers like Tracy Chevalier and poets such as Daljit Nagra and Ian McMillan. Mohammed was recorded reading his poem and took part in the virtual Resilience Readings Festival. The judges said they were very moved by Mohammed’s poem.

Sujoud (Year 10) was also highly commended for her poem, ‘Connected’.

Both Mohammed and Sujoud have won book prizes, too.
