Teaching and Learning Updates
Posted on: 08/12/2020Year 7: 'Building our Identity' Week
Year 7 students had a range of activities on the week starting the 30th November to encourage them to think about their identity as a member of the Capital Community. They had a session on closure, loss and transition where they reflected on their journey so far at Capital; they explored what being an ambassador means and they celebrated their achievements so far. Their last session was about getting to know each other a bit more and even though this took place outside so they could stand in a circle, they showed resilience, rose to the challenge of using their oracy skills to express themselves, and listened to others. Well done Year 7s, we are very proud of you!

Independent Learning in C6
Following AP0, the C6 LAs conducted Academic Review Conversations with their LA groups. Based on their conversations, we found out that the vast majority of students, particularly in Year 12, did not make or use a revision timetable.
The C6 Team set out to change this for AP1. C6 students were provided with a range of example revision timetables and templates (please click on the images below to see these). They were then asked to submit their own personal revision timetable on Google Classroom. If necessary, students were provided with feedback on how to space out their revision and how to use their time more effectively.
This has been part of a wider effort to embed the use of Capital’s Independent Learning Strategies and will hopefully prove fruitful over the coming year.
