Our Specialisms: Sports Update
Posted on: 21/10/2020Welcome back to a new half term!
As mentioned in the last newsletter, the students are doing a wonderful job and we are all really pleased with their attitude and behaviour in these testing times.
This half term the Year 7 Girls begin swimming lessons at Willesden Sports Centre and I write to ensure you that every precaution has and will be taken whilst the girls swim.
I am really passionate that every child should be able to swim. We live in a country surrounded by rivers, canals, lakes and the sea and the ability to swim is essential. It really is a life skill.
There are lots of research papers supporting the correlation between the ability to swim and self-confidence and the positive effect it can have on learning and exam success.
I would like to remind you all of the Mimove app. The link to this can be found on the Capital Online portal in the PE and Sport area. Mimove is a great way to track your activity and see how active you are. You can set goals and see your fitness increase. We will also be giving prizes for the most active students.
I wish you all the best of luck over this half term and hope that you can keep active over the next few weeks. I think we all know the positive effect PE and Sport can have on mental wellbeing especially in the current environment. So wrap up warm, get outside and enjoy the wind in your face!
Stay safe
Mr Caldwell
