On 29th January, the Year 12/13 students ran the highly competitive Brent Year 5/6 Indoor Sportshall Athletics Championships at Willesden Sports Centre. Sixteen schools took part with nearly 400 competitors! St Joseph’s Junior School (Wembley) won and will represent Brent in the finals. It was great to have Mark Betts back to present the cup as recognition for the outstanding work he has done in Brent over the years.
Nia goes from strength to strength
On 2nd February, Nia won a Silver Medal for the 60m Indoor Sprint at U20 South of England Championships. She followed up this success on 24th February with another Silver Medal at U17 National Championships in Sheffield.
Infant Athletics
On 5th February, the Year 12/13 students ran a fun athletics festival for Brent Year 1 and 2 students at Willesden Sports Centre. 160 participants took part - many representing their school for the first time.
Conference
On 5th February, at Brent Civic Centre, local teachers, LSAs, Heads and governors attended a conference on 'The Power of a Well School'. It was organised by Capital City Academy, Kingsbury High School and Brent Health and Wellbeing team. It was a well-attended, successful event which recognised schools that achieved their School Games Mark this year.
Capital City achieved Platinum level - the highest level awarded.
Basketball Year 5/6 3v3 Tournament
On 10th February, 20 teams took part in a highly competitive tournament held at Capital City Academy. The standard was extremely high. Wykeham School won and will represent Brent in the finals this year. The Basketball Academy 6th Formers officiated the event.
