Our Specialisms: Sports UpdatePosted on: 17/12/2019
Capital City PE Department and Partnership have been recognised for the outstanding work they have done for the Get Set Programme. This is the educational arm of the Olympics team. We continue to work with them and have piloted a number of new initiatives. We are only one of eight schools nationally to be asked to be involved with this project so it is a great credit to our school.
Capital City continue to support the local community through the School Games Programme and as part of the Capital City Sports Partnership. The partnership has grown in numbers this year with more schools than ever getting involved. The success of this is due to the excellent young leaders provided by Capital City Academy that run the events. This term we have run the Year 3/4 and 5/6 girls' football tournaments at Capital City Academy.
We have been involved in filming some promotional videos for Wembley and Brent to be shown during the upcoming Euros: www.winkball.com/events/1355.
We have also run events for Year 1 and 2 in our local infant schools and a Year 7 transition pilot programme for the Youth Sports Trust that encourages communication and builds confidence and team-work through competition.
In addition, at the School Games Summit, it was great to see Fatima still being very prominent in leadership promotion.
