Capital 6 Open EveningPosted on: 20/11/2019
On Wednesday 20th November, Capital 6 opened its doors to our Year 11 students, their parents and Year 11 guests for our sixth form open evening. There was a real buzz in the atrium as Year 11 found out about all the options available after those all-important GCSEs are achieved next August!
Year 11 students have a big decision to make with regards to their post-16 choices, and it was a real pleasure to see so many students, both from our academy and neighbouring schools ask our Capital 6 team so many thoughtful questions, and already be thinking about university and professional careers.
After visiting our specialist Capital 6 teachers, there were a number of workshops expertly delivered by Mr Wola (about the transition from Year 11 to sixth form), Mrs Hersi (about Capital Asset and applying to top universities), Ms McDonnell (about our Sports specialism, including information on our football and basketball academies) and Miss Lee (about our Arts specialism - especially our link with UAL and all the arts opportunities that we offer).
Year 11 students have a number of people to talk to about their next step and that process began as early as Thursday's Flexiday, where their learning advisors encouraged them to reflect upon their current positon and what they need to do to get the sixth form courses that are right for them. There are an exciting range of courses here at Capital 6 and also available through SBC6 (South Brent Sixth Form Consortium) so Year 11... the world is your oyster - and to help you with that... don't forget to pick up your free SBC6 Oyster Card holder!
