Black History Month AssemblyPosted on: 18/10/2019
Black History Month whole school assembly was another exciting collaboration between students and staff of Capital.
This year the Student Parliament, Head Boy and Head Girl were very active in co-ordinating the rehearsals, leading the promotion and raising the profile of the event.
Students from Year 7 to Capital 6 shared their cleverly worded spoken text pieces, cultural choreography and impressive musicality.
The amount of leadership taking place in the run up to the celebratory showcase was outstanding and a true reflection of the capabilities of our students and their professional skills.
Mr Gacheru and Miss Wine co-hosted the assemblies, introducing all the original works whilst praising their artistry and engaging the audiences.
The Art Department were instrumental in producing all the artwork displays which really added a visual layer to the performances and highlighted the sense of pride, unity and influence that Black History encompasses.
It was an amazing and vibrant end to the half term which left staff and students positively reflective and wanting more!
A big thank you to all the C6 participants and helpers, Art Department, Student Parliament, performers and everyone else involved.
