Bedford and MK Times Table Rock Wrangle 2017

Posted on: 20/03/2017

Please congratulate Sayeda, who came 4th place out of 60 children in the Bedford and MK Times Table Rock Wrangle 2017.

It was a nail biting qualifier round which saw our three students Jay, Lukman and Sayeda compete frantically against 27 other students in their pool.

Initially, they were apprehensive (as with some of the opposing students) due to not having a number pad on the laptop (which many are accustomed to!). They all managed to work with what they had and battled through 11 one-minute rounds of times tables from 2 to 12.

Sayeda gracefully made it through to the qualifiers round correctly answering 580 questions.

Lukman just missed out with 520 correct questions and Jay with 450 correct answers. They showed great sportsmanship congratulating their fellow competitor and can be seen (and heard!) egging Sayeda on throughout the heats.

Sayeda then went on to compete against 7 other students, leaping through to the finals - ranking 1st with 110 correct multiplication facts in one minute.

All the Rock Heroes were on a ‘high’ and eagerly awaited the Grand Finale. Four remained and had to work through 180 seconds (yes… 3 minutes) of intense pressure to make it to the top.

Sayeda did brilliantly and answered 325 questions making 4th place.

3rd place scored 327

2nd place 328

1st place 353

Sayeda, Jay and Lukman represented Capital City Academy (the only London school!) and we are all extremely proud of their accomplishments at Bedford Free School during this tournament.
