Year 13 Theatre Trip
Posted on: 11/09/2019The Lyric Theatre in Hammersmith proved the perfect venue for a year 13 English Literature class theatre trip. The theatre’s production of ‘A Doll’s House’ transports the action to colonial-era Calcutta, where Nehru is oppressed not only by the patriarchy but by her white husband’s latent racism. The ‘miracle of miracles’ that Nehru wishes for – a marriage based on mutual respect – seems even less likely than in Ibsen’s tragic original! Luckily, there was enough sun on the roof garden to bring a smile back to everyone’s face.
