Social Action WorkshopPosted on: 26/06/2019
You may remember that last year a team from Capital won funding for a social action project from The Mayor’s Fund for London. The team of nine girls from Years 8 - 10 wanted to tackle the issue of social isolation in our local community.
We will be hosting an exhibition here at Capital in the Autumn which will showcase the stories of members of our local community who currently or have previously felt isolated. The aim of the exhibition is to raise awareness about the issue and what we can do as a community to help.
This month we were visited by a team of volunteers who work with Brent Council’s Social Isolation Initiative. We found out how and why social isolation is a problem in our community and the different things we can do to help. We then worked through activities to help us interact and gather stories from local residents for the exhibition.
Next month we will be visiting Ashford Place in Cricklewood to collect our stories and we can’t wait!
