Word Bridges

Posted on: 24/06/2019

After featuring to acclaim in the 2018 Ten Pieces Prom at the Royal Albert Hall, some teenage writers from Capital City Academy were invited to join a new project run by writer Rosemary Harris in partnership with English PEN, the Royal Society of Literature and Salusbury World.

Word Bridges celebrated creative writing as a bridge between boundaries of all sorts - geography, time and language.

On Monday 24 June, the group - Mohammed, Sayeda, Maryam, Sajeda, Rui, Ibtissam, Rawan, Tarek, Sujoud, Dana and Faadima - performed their work at an event at the Free Word Centre alongside professional poet, Tanaka Mhishi. The group performed with confidence, and the audience was very impressed by them. All their work will be published online by English PEN.
