Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Practice Expedition
Posted on: 11/05/2019On Friday 10th and Saturday 11th May, the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze teams set off on their first practice expedition. They soon realised the extent of the task they were about to endure but all performed admirably. The first practice expedition is never easy. Bags are always over-packed, food preparation is a little daunting, and map work is always different out in the field! With all these challenges, the Bronze teams needed to learn quickly on a very steep learning curve which was achieved with marvellous rigour.
Will they be continuing onto the expedition?
Yes! All students have said they can’t wait to get to the next challenge!
Have they learnt from their mistakes?
On reflection, every student has said what they will do next time to perform to the best of their abilities.
And most importantly, did they enjoy it?
Through all the blisters, a few tears and many kilometres of walking in the heat; everyone left the last checkpoint with smiles and a great sense of accomplishment.
