GCSE Catering ExamPosted on: 21/01/2019
GCSE Catering students had a three hour practical exam in which they needed to make two dishes plus accompaniments. Staff were then invited to view and taste their work.
The staff were very surprised at the results and standard of the students work as it is not very often they get to see what goes on behind the closed doors of the classroom. Students demonstrated lots of different skills including filleting a fish and jointing a chicken.
After completing the practical the students were exhausted but very pleased with the comments they received by staff. Some included:
“The pastry was perfect”
“The fruit tart was absolutely amazing”
“Very even fish fillet”
“The dauphinoise potatoes were awesome”
The students should be very proud!
