Capital Art CollectivePosted on: 01/01/2019
Last December saw the launch of the Capital Art Collective, an enterprise which involves the students of the Tuesday after school art club, designing and making hand crafted pieces that are later sold at a local gift shop - The Yard on The Rise’ in Kensal Rise.
In the last two weeks of term, the students created some beautiful ceramic pieces which Kirsty, owner of The yard said, “flew off the shelves!“ The students’ work raised just under £100 which was shared between two local charities, Sufra and The West Hampstead Women’s Centre.
This half term the Art Collective will be exploring textile techniques and are hoping to come up with some great gift ideas to stock in the shop in time for Valentine’s day.
Tuesday’s after school art club is part of the school’s enrichment programme and is open to everyone from Year 7 up. It is a great opportunity for students to experience activities that they might not otherwise have access to. Proposed projects for the future include wood work, paper engineering and sculpture.
Numbers are limited but if anyone would like to join, please hand your name to Ms Guimaraes in G21.
