Futures Week

Posted on: 03/07/2018

Capital 6 commenced their 'Futures Week' activities on Tuesday 3rd July 2018. This was an exciting and informative programme of activities to prepare students for university or the world of work.

On Tuesday, a Higher Education & Employability Conference was held at the Clayton Crown Hotel in Cricklewood. Students had a talk from our inspirational keynote speaker Dr Donald Palmer who shared his story from humble roots in South London to the heights of the academia. A student ambassador from Middlesex University then informed the students about the UCAS applicant journey and making the right choices. Finally, a panel of young professionals spoke to our students about their career pathways. A big thank you to Mr Abbas for sourcing such fascinating contacts.

On Wednesday 4th July, our A-level, BTEC Business and VTCT Sports students went out to visit the University of East London (Stratford Campus). Students received talks from various subject areas and had a virtual tour of the campus and students accommodation.

BTEC Health & Social Care students went to the Health & Science Fair at Kensington. Students received a talk around various careers ranging from pathology and forensics to nursing, midwifery, physiotherapy and pharmacology. In addition to this, students received free stethoscopes to add to their clinical skill set! The activities ended on Thursday with the students signing up to UCAS and deciding on their next steps and finalising work experience – have a great summer Year 12 and we’ll see you next year!
