Poetic Pilgrimage Workshop

Posted on: 16/05/2018

The Humanities department organised for an external organisation to come in and run a poetry and drama workshop on 'pilgrimage' with Year 8. The students involved learnt a huge amount about different cultures, heritage, religions and experiences; especially from their fellow students.

Here is a snippet of some of the poetry produced by the students who took part.

"I never knew people could be so happy and kind.

Skipping, running they don't mind.

We are all different, but we are all equal."

~ Yaasmin

"I never knew the dreams that girls could pursue.

I never knew that having so many differences could bring people together.

I never knew that we can all be friends forever.

We are all different, but we are all equal."

~ Kamara

"I never knew that people think of England in this way.

The accent, the culture and their feelings.

They migrated their countries for different reasons.

How they adjusted to life we are currently living.

How i'm grateful for all the things that are in my life.

We are all different, but we are all equal."

~ Kayleigh
