The Economist's Society Grand Final Debate

Posted on: 12/03/2018

On Monday 26th February seven Capital Sixth Form students braved the cold weather to attend The Economist's Society Grand Final Debate at Oxera Consulting offices in central London. The debate was the culmination of a debating competition between nine Redbrick universities and gave Capital 6 students a chance to see some high quality debating.

There were two moot points: 'This house believes that tax havens are a force for good in the world economy' and 'This house believes that the FANGS (Facebook, Amazon, Netflix, and Google) have too much of the world's data and should be broken up.' After two riveting and fast-paced debates Warwick University took first prize.
