Posted on: 20/11/2017

On Wednesday afternoon, Y10 and Y11 MFL students had the opportunity to hear from an Oxford professor about studying Languages at university. Dr Francesco Manzini of Oriel College, Oxford, spoke to about twenty students and answered their questions. The students learnt about the benefits of studying Languages and about the career opportunities for graduates with Languages degrees. They also gained insight into the different types of Languages courses available, including combinations with other subjects. Dr Manzini was also able to shed some light on the process of applying to Oxford and Cambridge and talked the students through the famous interview! The students learned a lot from this visit and had many questions they wanted answering.

This talk was organised as part of the MFL Enrichment Programme which aims to provide languages students in Y10 and 11 with opportunities to access French, German and Spanish-speaking cultures outside the classroom. The events vary from film screenings and workshops, to trips and guest speakers.
