STEM #MonsterConfidenceDay
Posted on: 06/11/2017Ten Year 11 students accompanied Miss Hentzen to the STEM #Monster Confidence. Students enjoyed an inspiring day with many female professionals working within in the STEM industry, as well as organisations such as Westfield, Veiola and Sky.
Keynote speakers, such as Sarah Wood OBE, (multi-millionaire) co-founder of Unruly who specialise in distributing, publishing and tracking video advertising across multiple channels; were motivational in the advice given to over 200 young females from schools and colleges across London.
Students took part in a well-planned day which included a question and answer session, speed mentoring, interview techniques and ultimately how to build confidence.
Fabiana in Year 11 said, "I have really enjoyed the Monster Confidence event because it helped me boost my confidence, it gave me tips on what to do and what not to do in an interview and in my CV. It was also a great opportunity to see successful women in technology and ask them questions. For example, we saw Jana who works in robotics for the Bank of America. It was really inspiring and I will not forget what I learnt and to take every opportunity I can.
I remember the quote we saw on a video ‘don’t fake it until you make it, fake it until you become it’ Amy Cuddy. We must be optimistic and take every opportunity that comes our way. I will definitely do that. I want to thank Ms Hentzen for this great opportunity".
