Support Our School
Capital City Academy is looking for your support in order to enhance the lives and education of each of our students. In the current financial climate many schools are charging parents or supporters in order to continue to provide an outstanding education. We know that this would be difficult for many of our families and therefore are working creatively to source the funding we need. If you can support financially this would help to provide opportunities for our students that we could not otherwise facilitate but there are many other ways in which parents and supporters can also help Capital City Academy provide an outstanding education. We are looking for support in a variety of ways and are sure you will find a way in which you can help make a positive impact. Be part of something great and help us continue to develop Capital into a centre for excellence for our students and community.
Please click on the expandable sections below to find out about the different ways you can support Capital.
Community Share Offer - Capital City Academy Goes Green!
Plans are afoot for rooftop solar panels to provide clean, green electricity for the Academy.. A300 kWp solar PV array is to be installed on Capital City Academy’s roof. This equates to 800 panels and will generate some 263 MWh of electricity per annum. Modelling suggest that this will supply between 25 and 30% of the school’s current annual consumption. This will enable the school not only to save around £10,000 per year on electricity, but to generate its own electricity from the sun, not by burning polluting fossil fuels.
The organisation managing this project is Brent Pure Energy (BPE), a not-for-profit Community Benefit Society, which has already installed solar panels on the roofs of Queens Park Community School (in August 2016) and Malorees Infant and Junior Schools (in March 2020).
BPE was formed by residents as a local response to the issue of Climate Change in the London Borough of Brent, with the following aims: to engage the community, to support local schools and to generate renewable energy. For this project BPE plan to issue £190,000 of community shares to purchase the solar panels. You can participate by buying shares (minimum of £100) You would then automatically become a member of BPE with an equal say in the democratic process of the society irrespective of the amount of shares owned and you would receive interest (set at 4%) on your investment over the 20 year lifetime of the project. As an investor you would be able to see your investment in action every day on the roof of CCA generating electricity. At the end of 20 years the solar panels will belong to the school.
This is a win, win, win project as it combines cleaner, greener, cheaper energy, local community interaction and useful scientific teaching information for CCA.
There is no time to waste in going greener if the latest leaked report from the IPCC is correct.
If you would like to know more please go to the BPE website, http://www.brentpureenergy.org.uk/ where the Community Share Offer is online with full details, together with an application form.

Volunteering in School
Our aim at Capital City Academy is to provide an exceptional environment to promote a passion for learning and discovery. We believe that parents can enhance the learning experience further and in partnership we can support our students to realise their potential. We are therefore introducing a new initiative called ‘Parent Champions’. This initiative aims to develop this partnership by welcoming parents and/or other family members to volunteer their skills, expertise and resources in the Academy.
Who can help?
Anyone involved with the school; parents or relatives of students, including mums, dads, grandparents, governors and friends.
What will I do?
There are lots of ways you can help in school e.g. supporting with an extra-curricular clubs/class, speaking in assembly, running a workshop, supporting school trips etc. What you will actually do depends on your own interests and skills. Whatever you do, you will get as much information and guidance as possible. When you work with children at school you will always be under the supervision of a member of staff.
How often will I be able to help?
That will be negotiated between you and the school. We prefer volunteers to make a longer-term commitment e.g. once a week for a term or longer.
What do I do if I want to volunteer?
If you would like to volunteer, please complete the form below to provide us with your key information and tell us what you can offer the school whether it is a particular skill or simply time that you can offer.
